Beginnings 📖
My journey into the fantasy baseball realm started in 2007 as a 7th grader when I was invited into a church league by my great Youth Pastor Rick Leach, and I was hooked ever since. I played on and off over the years, but really rekindled my love for the game back in 2015 when I jumped back into the arena.
Every year after that, I tried to add a new element to my game, whether it was deeper leagues, dynasty formats in 2017 (thanks to Andrew McQuiston for bringing me into that realm), draft & hold leagues, as well as industry leagues once I got a chance to be invited into some of those formats. The next big challenge was always the goal since no one can ‘solve’ fantasy baseball, that’s why we play after all.
The next challenge ✨
The NFBC, ever since I began playing competitively, has always been the gold standard. I always loved hearing the stories of NFBC Hall of Famers and legends, as well as veterans like Scott Jenstad and Jeff Erickson dissecting the NFBC ADP on their Sunday Rotowire Podcast.
Every year I have tried to listen to the best players, and observe some of the industry titans to try to get better, find patterns, and add new tools to the toolbelt, while not losing what I had gained previously. This does create a tricky balance. There’s always a lot to learn, but doing what makes you comfortable and what makes sense is always key, since you know your style, what you are best/worst at, and the fact it is your entry fee at the end of the day. I’d much rather use a hammer with precision than use a laser cutter with no experience. Some of my methods are simple, but I find them to provide many of the answers that highly advanced stats can provide, even if the more highly advanced stats can shed a light on something important, or spot a breakout. I do believe in the KISS methodology, as the game is complex enough, keeping it simple is always good.
DC Dynasty 💎
I have written content for some great people in the industry, such as Lenny Melnick, KC Bubba, and Dr. Roto, and enjoyed the process, learning a lot along the way and having fun. The idea of starting my own endeavor to give me creative control and ownership definitely appeals to me and is a big reason I started DC Dynasty.
I also wanted dynasty owners to have the opportunity to read content all year long and have the chance to connect if they had any questions. The same is true for NFBC Draft Champions players, as well as those in other deep AL-only or NL-Only leagues. The opportunity to hopefully help some players make some decisions in FAAB or with their prep for Draft Champions is my ultimate goal for this site. I have been blessed to get to know some great people who shared opportunities, insight, or other valuable things, and I wanted to provide an environment where people can visit DC Dynasty and either find strategic benefits or entertainment.
