Welcome back for another installment of my FAAB Guide! We have a very interesting week this week with multiple high-end prospects with decent opportunity, and a lot of sneaky pickups that I am fired up about as well. Let’s dive in!
Schedule Notes 🗓️
Best schedules:
ARI, BOS, CHC, CIN, COL, LAA, LAD, NYM, SD, SF, PHI, PIT all play a 7-game week (Mon-Sun). PIT heads to Coors, and while it hasn’t warmed up there, the bats should see a BABIP boost in Coors.
Worst schedules:
Two teams have a bad schedule this week, with just 5 games from both WAS and BAL.
Hot Commodities 🔥
Carlos Santana | PIT | 1B | $15-$30 | Trip to Coors and cemented premium lineup spot for the RBI producer. ROS solid guy as long as he maintains the role and is hitting decent. |
Alex Kirilloff | MIN | 1B/OF | $7-$15 | I avoid him due to injury concerns but if he is your cup of tea… |
Vaughn Grissom | ATL | 2B | $50-$100 | Will get SS eligibility eventually, has solid combo skills, I didn’t love the ADP inside the T200 but off FAAB in a 12 I would be interested, well-rounded. |
Edouard Julien | MIN | 2B | $50-$110 | He will go for sub $50 potentially in some leagues and north of $100 in some, his skills are solid for roto even if his OBP is his best asset (see B. Nimmo), could pile up runs scored and PAs since he’s leadoff. Underrated pop. PT is in question since Polanco will be back and is limited to 2B, perhaps Julien plays 1B since Buxton is the DH. |
Zach Neto | LAA | SS | $25-$55 | PT could be more secure than Julien if he hits since LAA has no SS, but his talent isn’t quite as high-level. Struck out in MiLB more than I like for a contact guy. |
Rodolfo Castro | PIT | SS/2B/3B | $20-$40 | A nifty puff of pop and speed with a bad hit tool. I like the HR/SB outlook with versatility if you can handle a .230 AVG |
Brandon Crawford | SF | SS | $15-$25 | If I have to go here, I don’t want to overinvest and I will be looking to upgrade him constantly, has decent pop. |
Jake Burger | CWS | 3B | $15-$25 | The Bat X gives him a very strong .198 ISO, hard to get that off waivers. Moncada injury makes this a possibility. |
Franchy Cordero | NYY | 1B/OF | $15-$25 | I don’t think his true talent has changed, will run into HR occasionally but not sticking my neck out too far here. |
Kerry Carpenter | DET | OF | $20-$35 | Power bat who sits vs all LHP, he works well in NFBC since you can put him in the lineup if he faces a stream of RHP. |
Will Brennan | CLE | OF | $15-$25 | Recommended as a sneaky streamer weeks ago, he is playing over Oscar Gonzalez, premium hit tool. |
Brent Rooker | OAK | OF | $15-$25 | Will play a lot for OAK, he is hitting the snot out of the ball but he will not continue this run, be sober with bidding. |
Taj Bradley | TB | P | $60-$100 | Premium pitching prospect in a great team context, can go past this amount if you are desperate for pitching, no assurances he will start this week per se. |
Alex Wood | SF | P | $25-$40 | Good 2-step for a competent arm who could be held with decent confidence. |
Mitch Keller | PIT | P | $20-$40 | Continues to increase his FB velo, and career best CSW rate. |
Kyle Gibson | BAL | P | $15-$25 | Very boring but often usable SP. |
Johan Oviedo | PIT | P | $10-$25 | Huge start this week under his belt, upside here, but it keep it under control on bidding. |
Serviceable Streamers ♻️
Garrett Cooper | MIA | 1B | $10-$15 | Consummate pro hitter, avoided in DCs due to health but worth rostering in 15s. |
Jose Barrero | CIN | SS | $7-$15 | Former big prospect with crazy swings in his K Rates, he is on fire as of now, good upside and cheap in FAAB. |
Geraldo Perdomo | PHI | SS | $1-$3 | Swings a pool noodle for a bat. |
Edmundo Sosa | PIH | 3B/SS | $6-$13 | Great versatility and interesting pwr/spd skills, I like him some. |
J.D. Davis | SF | 3B | $5-$15 | Good power but PT has been a little erratic. |
David Villar | SF | 3B | $4-$13 | Solid power bat that I like but I am going fairly conservative. |
Harold Ramirez | TB | 1B/OF | $15-$25 | Between streamer and hot commodity, HRam has good hit tool and great lineup spot with good team, PT is not full full-time. |
Alex Call | WAS | OF | $3-$5 | Speculative OF play getting PT. |
Jose Alvarado | PHI | P | $3-$5 | Not that far away from saves and great pitcher today. |
Dylan Floro | MIA | P | $3-$5 | Not that far away from saves and good pitcher today. |
Spec Plays👓
Yainer Diaz | HOU | UT/C | $3-$6 | Taking a long time to get C appearances, and can only be stashed in leagues with no stashes since the Astros love Maldy defense, but he has nice upside in the bat. |
Donovan Solano | MIN | 1B | $1 | Just an end of waterfall PT guy. |
Oswald Peraza | NYY | SS | $7-$15 | Got the call and he has talent, cheap spec is warranted. |
Josh H. Smith | TEX | 3B/SS/OF | $3-$5 | Elevated wRC+ projections are OBP driven. J.P. Crawford-ie. |
Mike Moustakas | COL | 3B | $1 | Getting some PT in Coors. |
Josh Donaldson | NYY | 3B | $1 | Just an end-of-waterfall PT guy. |
Avisail Garcia | MIA | OF | $3-$6 | Might be totally cooked but I would add him to my bench for next to nothing. |
Christopher Morel | CHC | 2B/OF | $1 | Scorching start in AAA Iowa. If you have a free space, add him. |
Nelson Cruz | SD | UT | $1 | Might have a smidge of power in the bat. |
Giovanny Gallegos | STL | P | $1 | Just a decent RP stream. |
Dynasty Darlings 💎
Nelson Rada | LAA | OF | $50-$75 | Incredibly challenging assignment as a 17 yo in full-season ball, pay up if he is available and it’s a competitve league; growth stock. |
Loidel Chapelli | CWS | INF | $30-$40 | Potential growth stock with feel to hit and potential power in the future. |
Clayton Beeter | NYY | P | $30-$40 | Health issues have gotten Beeter off track over his MiLB career but he is in a new org. with NYY (I love their pitching dev) and he is off to a hot start this year, age appropriate to debut if he succeeds this year. |
Andrew Abbott | CIN | P | $1-$5 | Good high K start to the year. |
Drop Department ✂️
Oneil Cruz | PIT | P | Drop | I dropped in my Main Event last sunday, the prognosis just isn’t good and I don’t want a 6-man bench until Aug/Sept. |
Jeffrey Springs | TB | P | Maybe Drop | Missing several months with an arm/elbow issue and no guarantees he is normal when he returns, he can be cut in NFBC but you can keep to glean more information even if that doesn’t come. |
Kris Bubic | KC | P | Drop | Good data in his start @ SF but ultimately he is not a keeper and has a forearm injury. |
Aaron Civale | CLE | P | Drop | I like his arm talent but he is injury prone and not a stud so if you need the spot he is an okay drop. |
